About The Stone
About Tourmaline
Tourmaline comes in virtually all colors! In fact, many colors of Tourmaline are known by their own names...The red colors are called Rubellite, the blue colors are Indicolite, the green is Verdite, browns are Dravite, rare vivid greens are Paraiba, common black is Schorl and the rare colorless Tourmalines are known as Achroite.
Indeed, different colors of Tourmaline are often confused with different gemstones. A few of these gemstones are Iolite, Topaz, Citrine, Amethyst, Spinel, Ruby, Emerald, Smoky Quartz, Aquamarine and Tsavorite Garnet. Tourmaline is a beautiful stone in any color.
Tourmaline is used for more than decoration. Because of its piezoelectric properties, Tourmaline has been used in pressure devices, sonar systems and in instruments that detect pressure.
Metaphysical Properties
Tourmaline encourages love, compassion, and wisdom. Tourmaline is also thought to inspire creativity. It's believed that William Shakespeare had a small collection of Tourmaline to overcome writer's block!
