March is Me Month aligns with International Women’s Day on March 8 and March’s Women’s History Month. International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements of women, raises awareness of bias, and takes action for equality. The 2023 focus for IWD is #EmbraceEquity. Women’s History Month honors the accomplishments of women in our culture and society throughout history.
As a woman, I believe celebrating women’s achievements across history is very important. However, we must never lose sight of the fact that we still have a way to go for true equality for all women.
My first career in Silicon Valley’s tech industry was a challenging journey - given when I started back in 1981, the industry was primarily male. This year, I want to focus on women in technology because technology helps enable equality for women across the world. I’ve written an article with my thoughts, Celebrating Women In Tech For Women’s Day.
I’ve thought about my jewelry designs and have chosen some pieces I believe are perfect for women to express themselves, whether on the job or at home. Women have so many roles it’s impossible to capture everything! But here are some of my suggestions. I chose 4 specific pieces for each. Of course, you should always choose the jewelry that speaks to you!
Women work in so many fields, but I think there are some common jewelry designs that work across them all. It’s always great to wear natural stone jewelry. I believe my more subtle handmade stone post earrings are a perfect choice for all working women. That’s an easy one! Aquamarine is March’s birthstone - but you don’t need to have a birthday in March to wear Aquamarine jewelry. This is the perfect natural stone to celebrate Women.
