Unique, one-of-a-kind and rare to find - I create torch Flamed Copper jewelry using a handheld torch to heat the copper, which causes an amazing number of colors to form.
Torch Flamed Copper is truly an art form. No two pieces will ever be exactly the same, as too many factors are at play. Daily weather such as temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure all affect the colors the copper will take on, even if applying the same heat. The goal for matched items such as earrings is to create a pair that artistically go together, as they will never match exactly.
Photographing Flamed Copper is a challenge because the beautiful thing is that the colors shift depending on the lighting. Sunlight will show colors differently than indoor light and your every move will show subtle changes in color. The torching process can create colors that range from blues and purples, to reds, greens, yellows, pinks, orange and a rare sparkled up "golden copper" - all on a spectrum of dark & bold to light & pastel.
