In celebration of Earth Day this year, I wanted to talk a little more about something that’s important to me as a natural stone jewelry artisan, that’s a little different from some of my normal content.
Humans have a long history of admiring and working with natural stones for a wide variety of reasons, from creating art to supporting Chakras and developing a Chakra practice, or just because we think they’re an incredible representation of Mother Nature’s creativity.
Here are just a few of the ways I think we can use handmade natural stone jewelry to help support healthy living and having a fulfilling life.
How Natural Stone Jewelry Enhances Your Life
There are a lot of different ways to make natural stone jewelry a powerful and celebratory force in your life.
The wonderful thing about looking at natural stones as a tool and a bounty from nature is that we can all find different ways they bolster our well-being.
If it works for you, I say go for it and live your best/favorite life. Whatever that means to you!
Celebrate Your Mother Earth Connection
A big part of the reason I became a natural stone jewelry artisan was my love of nature and wanting to celebrate the connection between Mother Earth and humanity. We are part of nature, even though we’ve reached a point in human history when that can sometimes be easy to forget.
Natural stones, in all their different shapes, colors, and presentations, are a fantastic way of honoring that connection. That’s part of why I only use natural stones instead of lab-created versions of these minerals. Because I want to celebrate specifically the power of nature to create, and how much of that creation is beautiful.
Not to mention that natural stones come in so many different varieties, they’re also a fantastic reminder that nature comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
So, wearing your favorite stone as a natural stone necklace, a pair of earrings, or even a ring or bracelet can be a healing reminder of the natural world. It can also be a reminder of our need, as humans, to connect and immerse ourselves in nature.
This thinking is what I used to choose the jewelry included in my Earth Day Flash Sale this year. Especially the Azurite necklace and earrings, which always remind me of the globe of the Earth.
Set Your Intentions And Give Yourself A Psychological Boost
One of the reasons I include the symbolic and metaphysical meanings of the natural stones I use in the descriptions of my jewelry is so you can take advantage of those associations. Whether you engage in a metaphysical practice or not, if you associate these stones with specific traits or outcomes you can use them to give yourself a boost through your day.
For instance, if you associate Rose Quartz with encouraging love and passion in your life, and you choose to wear Rose Quartz earrings for that reason, your mind will naturally be more open to that kind of interaction throughout your day.
My Tiger Eye ‘Strength’ Morse Code Bracelet is designed with the same thought in mind. Tiger Eye stones are connected to personal strength and balance, and using them to spell the word ‘Strength’ in Morse code just increases the message. Plus, since you can see the bracelet, it works as a more constant reminder.
You can use any stone and any natural stone jewelry this way. And there are stones for almost every meaning and purpose, so you can choose the stones that are most meaningful for you. Whether you’re encouraging specific outcomes, giving yourself a remind and boost toward personal growth, or looking for something in your life, natural stones can help you move in that direction.
Balance And Maintain Your Chakra
Another important use of natural stones and natural stone jewelry is in balancing and maintaining your Chakra.
Chakra jewelry is useful for your spiritual practice, to help yourself reach certain goals, or to overcome limitations resulting from a blocked Chakra.
I’m in the middle of launching my Chakra jewelry collections right now, which will include jewelry specific to each Chakra in addition to jewelry and accessories designed for all 7 Chakra. Those collections aren’t live yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use my existing natural stone jewelry as part of your Chakra practice or as a means of supporting your Chakras in everyday life.
Just look for the stone or stones you need, and incorporate it into your wardrobe to start reaping the benefits of better supporting your Chakra.
So, there’s one more thing to look forward to from Earth Song Jewelry coming soon! Our Earth Day Flash Sale on April 22nd and then my new Chakra Jewelry collections. It’s going to be an exciting spring!
Decorate Yourself And Your Space!
Living in a space you enjoy and feeling like you look good can have an incredible effect on your mental well-being. If you love the look and feel of natural stone jewelry, wearing and decorating your area with your stones can be a great way to boost your self-esteem.
Plus, if you choose a jewelry box or jewelry display case that leaves your natural stone jewelry visible, it’s a great way to decorate your personal spaces and add a little personality to your home decoration.
Celebrate Yourself!
Lastly, one of the best things about natural stone jewelry is that it’s highly customizable, and there are a lot more stones and designs to choose from than traditional fine jewelry.
That means that you can look for jewelry that has specific meanings for you, comes in a color or design you really love, or that celebrates the parts of yourself that you love.
While Chakra jewelry is often designed either to support the balance between Chakra, or to help unblock a Chakra, you can also wear natural stone jewelry because you love the symbolism, or because you’re proud of a trait you already have and want to support it.
For example, Rose Quartz is thought to be a stone a relationships, love, and connection. If you love that you are able to connect with people and form deep and meaningful relationships, that’s a great reason to wear Rose Quartz. Celebrating who you already are is every bit as meaningful and powerful as wearing a stone because you want to encourage a trait or skill you don’t yet have.
Do You Have Earth Day Plans This Year?
Earth Day is often one of the most overlooked holidays throughout the year. April 22nd often gets lost in the shuffle of Ramadan, Easter, Passover, Vaisakhi, Yom HaShoah, and other holidays. Not to mention spring cleaning, getting ready for summer, and starting to make outdoor plans for when the weather improves.
Earth Day might not be so ignored as National Dandelion Day (April 5th) or California Poppy Day (April 6th), but it is one of those holidays that most people know about but don’t really celebrate or pay attention to.
But, I hope one of the things I can accomplish as a small business owner is spreading awareness and celebration of Earth Day, even if it’s only in my small Colorado community or among Earth Song Jewelry customers.
I have plans for Earth Day of course, and not just making natural stone jewelry for the Earth Day Flash Sale, either! (Though I’ll be spending plenty of time getting ready for that too!) But do you have plans?
Even if you just take a few minutes to spend some time in a garden, go for a walk at a local park, or appreciate a small piece of the natural world, that’s better than not celebrating at all.
If you have more time of flexibility on your hands, consider seeing if there are any community or park cleanup events in your area. Book a spot at the local community garden (if any are still available!), or take some time either tending your existing garden or preparing the soil for Spring planting (depending on the weather).
